What Is Personal / Life Coaching?
Personal coaching or life coaching aims to help clients determine and achieve personal, business and relationship goals. Coaching and therapy both focus on helping clients discover their own solutions and have many similarities but they are not the same thing. Personal Coaching is a learning process to help people develop strategies and action plans intended to achieve those goals. A personal coach offers an alternative viewpoint for clients by sharing an outside and unbiased perspective on what they are observing about their clients.
How Does It Work?
Life coaching is an amalgamation of techniques that allow the client an opportunity to review their life, to gain a more precise understanding about what is working and not working and to set achievable goals. Together you evolve and modify a plan to best suit the client’s needs and relationship with their (unique) environment. A coach provides a place for clients to be held accountable to themselves by monitoring the clients’ progress towards implementation of their action plans. Finally, a personal coach encourages the client to celebrate the achievement of milestones and goals.
How Can It Help Me?
The Coach assists but doesn’t lead the client. It is the clients who take action and are responsible for their own achievements and success. Coaching is, flexible and enabling, not prescriptive or instructional. Life coaching and personal coaching can also be conducted on the telephone which offers greater flexibility for people with a busy lifestyle.
