BENEFITS OF AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH

“If you work with me, you are not restricted to just one form of therapy, taking an integrated approach means each appointment is tailored to the individual’s own unique needs, using a combination of techniques. So, you can rest assured that you are getting the best treatment, created especially for you…”

What is Integrative Therapy?

Integrative therapy is a personalised, holistic, approach to therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought depending on the unique needs of a given client.

If like so many of us, you are unsure of what kind of support might work best for you, then an integrative treatment plan could be exactly what you’ve been looking for. This way you are not restricted to just one form of therapy, you can try a few different approaches, all in one session. Each appointment is tailored to the individual’s own unique needs, using a combination of techniques, so you can rest assured that you are getting the best treatment, created especially for you.

Jane will use a combination of techniques (which she will assess might best fit your personal requirements. Treatments may include Talking Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Transformational and Traditional Coaching, Guided Meditation and Mindfulness, and the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Why take an integrated therapy approach?

Integrative therapy is an approach that combines elements from different therapeutic modalities and theories. Rather than adhering strictly to one specific method, integrative therapists tailor their approach to the unique needs of each individual.

The goal of integrative therapy is to provide a flexible and personalised treatment plan that considers the diverse aspects of an individual’s experience, including thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and interpersonal relationships. This Holistic therapy approach recognizes that no single therapeutic model is universally effective, and by integrating various methods, therapists can address a broader range of issues and better meet the needs of their clients.

The ultimate aim is to stimulate the innate healing capacity and wisdom within each individual to help clients tap into their own inner resources to lead a better life. Each session is tailored to the individual’s own needs and will use a combination of techniques to achieve the best possible results in the shortest possible time.

Is Holistic Therapy the same as Integrative Therapy?

Holistic therapy and integrative therapy share some similarities but are not entirely the same. The Holistic therapy approach typically focuses on addressing the individual as a whole, considering physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of health.

Integrative therapy, on the other hand, integrates different therapeutic approaches and techniques from various modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, to tailor treatment to the individual’s needs. While both approaches emphasize a comprehensive view of health and well-being, integrative therapy often involves blending different therapeutic frameworks, whereas holistic therapy tends to emphasize a more holistic approach to healing.

Is Holistic Therapy the same as regular therapy?

Holistic therapy differs from traditional therapy in its approach. While traditional therapy often focuses solely on mental health, holistic therapy addresses the individual as a whole, including their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.  In its most basic form, holistic therapy addresses the mind, body, and spirit to support health and healing.

How many therapy sessions will I need?

That depends on the individual and what it is you wish to change. Integrative therapy often uses hypnotherapy which helps people quickly (so that even deep rooted behavioural problems can often only take just a few sessions to resolve) but a full consultation is needed to find out more information on a case by case basis.

1-3 sessions is usually enough to help clients achieve their desired outcomes. However, in some cases, up to six may be necessary if there are more complex issues to resolve. I can normally assess in our first meeting , how many sessions I think you will require. As part of my Code of Ethics, I promise every client to complete courses of treatment at the earliest possible opportunity.

What happens during a typical therapy session?

We will have an initial (relaxed) FREE consultation on the phone to both assess whether we are a good fit and might like to work together. I might also send you a questionnaire (relevant to your case) for you to complete in advance to assist me in providing further background information. I will also explain how the therapy works and answer any questions you may have.

During the first appointment, we will then discuss your goals or issues and I will use a range of solution focused counselling skills to gain a fuller understanding of the issues at hand. If appropriate, in the second half of your session I might then also use hypnotherapy to work with your subconscious and take you into a deeper state of relaxation. During hypnosis I use various techniques to clarify the underlying cause of your problem and help you resolve the issue. To complete the session I will review the session with you and agree with you the best way to proceed

Can therapy help me with a medical issue?

Yes, it can. There are any number of different ailments and conditions which can be treated using integrative therapy, ranging from migraines and irritable bowel syndrome to anxiety disorders and pain relief. The therapy can also help promote relaxation to help recovering cancer patients. The practice would always recommend that therapy should be taken alongside conventional medical support though not as an alternative and will always refer clients when appropriate.

Can you guarantee a cure?

Nothing in life is guaranteed and it would not be professional (or ethical) of any therapist to offer one. However, you can be assured that I can promise to bring all my skills, knowledge, experience and on-going training to help you find lasting relief with your problem. If I don’t think I can help with your issue, I would be happy to make a referral.
